Utilization of Pump-Out Boat: The West Newbury pump-out boat will be available for any duty assignment agreed to by the Harbor Commissioners and the Board of Selectmen. Except in emergency, the Harbor Commissioners must be contacted for prior approval where assistance has been requested from any town department, function of the town or activities involving the river itself. It is the intention of the Harbor Commissioners to be as cooperative as possible with the townspeople, the river community and any other interested parties (such as the Coast Guard, Environmental Police, etc.) while keeping in mind the purpose of the pump-out boat, which is to protect the environment and assist in the protection of boaters and other users of the Merrimack River.
During the late spring, summer, early fall months - to request a pump out of your vessel:
Do not call 911 on a cell phone unless a last resort. 911 calls from cell phones go to the State Police barracks in Framingham. Troopers there then try to re-direct the call to the proper agency losing valuable time in the process. Community Information
